OUSV Rules

Background

The Rules of OUSV were developed by the Committee of the Society and are based on an amended version of the 'Model Rules' as defined in Part 5 of the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012 (the Act). This means that the Society has adopted its 'own rules' and these rules are designed to comply with the Act and address every aspect detailed in Schdule 1 of the Act - 'Matters to be provided for in the rules of an incorporated association'.

OUSV Purpose and Rules

The rules of OUSV have been approved by the Committee and by Members at the 2023 AGM. Further amendments were approved by Members at a Special General Meeting on 2nd August 2023.

The Purposes of OUSV
  • To provide opportunities for Oxford graduates, and those with a strong connection to the University, to maintain active relationships with fellow graduates and with the University of Oxford.

  • Organise activities and social events on behalf of its members.

  • Provide an informal channel of communication from the University of Oxford to members.

  • Build and maintain the reputation of the University of Oxford within Victoria and encourage a spirit of community and inclusiveness among those who have studied, taught at, or are otherwise associated with the University.

  • Engage in activities which benefit either or both, current and prospective students of the University.
